Terms of use

Last updated October 2026

These terms cover your use of CitizensPoll.com, CitizensPoll.ca and CitizensPoll.us. By creating an account or voting, you agree to them. They are written in plain language; if anything is unclear, message us on Facebook. How we handle your information is explained in our privacy policy.

Who can take part

Voting is for people 18 and older. Canadian polls are open to people with a Canadian mobile number, American polls to people with an American mobile number, and fun polls to everyone who can verify a number.

One person, one vote

Each person may have one account, verified with a mobile number they own and use. You agree not to:

  • create more than one account, or use someone else's phone number;
  • use bots, scripts, temporary or virtual numbers to vote or sign up;
  • buy, sell or trade votes or accounts, or pay or pressure others to vote a certain way;
  • try to break, overload or get around the site's security or limits.

We may remove ballots, suspend accounts or block numbers that break these rules, to protect the accuracy of the results.

What our results are, and aren't

CitizensPoll runs open, voluntary polls. Results reflect the verified people who chose to take part and are not weighted to match the population, so they are not a scientific forecast. They are provided as is, for information and discussion. You are welcome to share and quote our results; please credit CitizensPoll and link back to the poll.

Suggestions and content

If you send us a poll suggestion, you let us use, edit or adapt it, with no payment or credit owed. Please don't send anything hateful, threatening or that you don't have the right to share.

Independence and support

CitizensPoll is independent and not affiliated with any party, campaign or government. Donations are voluntary, are not refundable except where the payment provider allows, and never give anyone a say over which polls run, how questions are worded, or early access to results.

The fine print

We work hard to keep the site running and accurate, but we can't promise it will always be available or error free. To the extent the law allows, CitizensPoll isn't responsible for losses that come from using the site or relying on its results. We may change, pause or close polls at any time.

We may update these terms from time to time; the date at the top shows the latest version, and continuing to use the site means you accept the update. You can stop using the site and delete your account at any time from your account page.

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the laws of Canada that apply there.
